Sergey Balashov is a member of the LZUK calibration team responsible for the design, manufacture, assembly and tests of the mechanical parts of the LZ source deployment system.​​

He previously participated in the neutron electric dipole moment (nEDM) experiments at the Institut Laue–Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, working on the manufacture of UCN guide production components and on-site neutron guide characterisation measurements.
