Atanu Modak is an Experimental Particle Physicist and a core staff member of the STFC Particle Physics Department. He is leading the LHCb group at RAL towards the ambitious Mighty Tracker Upgrade which aims to install a large area HV-CMOS Detector in the downstream tracking system of the LHCb experiment during the LHC long shutdown 4 (2033-2034). He is also actively involved in the RICH Detector electronics upgrade. His group is interested in the search for new physics in the charm decays using the LHCb data.
He has leadership experience in the installation, commissioning, and operation of detectors in large HEP experiments and has served as the Operations Manager for the CMS Pixel Detector. Previously, he has worked towards the discovery of the SM Higgs boson and explored BSM searches for the CMS experiment.
